Hold on to your hats, my friends: today is Richter Scale Day! Join me in celebrating the inventor of the device that measures how devastating that earthquake was that you didn't live through.
Essentially it is a machine that allows all of us to say "Holy Shit!" when the news tells us how much the 8.5 on the Richter scale Earthquake annihilated some far-off country.

Been listening the shit out of Tom Waits' Beautiful Maladies: The Island Years. 23 song retrospective of an earlier part of his career. I am strangely drawn to him for some reason. Even though, as my colleague put it, he sounds like a drunken stroke victim.
